League system
As in real football, the league system at ONLINELEAGUE.co.uk is structured regionally. So in the lower leagues teams play in the local leagues of their community, while in the upper leagues it is about the nationwide championships.

General Information
There are 18 teams in each league
There are 34 matchdays. Each team plays every other team from the league in the first and in the second round. Once in a home game and once away.
The matchdays are set before the start of the season in the form of a fixture list.
Leagues are formed anew and optimized before each new season.
The number of leagues in each season is based on the number of teams playing. However, there is always only one 1st ONLINELEAGUE.

START
Each team starts here, in the 6th ONLINELEAGUE of its community against other teams from the immediate area. So against acquaintances, friends, rivals or neighbours. You know each other, you like each other, you rival or get to know each other. Every matchday is a derby day! The division into leagues is done automatically. As a team manager you have no influence on it. This also means that at the start of ONLINELEAGUE.co.uk in the first season there is no 5th, no 4th, no 3rd, 2nd or 1st ONLINELEAGUE. Each season the next season will be created until the 6th season when there will be the first 1st ONLINELEAGUE and the first British Online Football Champion.
FURTHER LEAGUE FORMATION
If there are not enough teams in a community for its own league, an attempt is made to form a league with teams from neighbouring communities. If that also does not succeed, then in the entire circle or even in the entire country one looks
In the last consequence a so-called collective league is founded. Here then all teams play, which could not be accommodated so far in a 6th ONLINELEAGUE in their region. But this will only happen with the agreement of the team manager, who can alternatively wait until enough teams are registered in his area.
At the new season, all leagues are newly formed, so that a team usually only has to make do with a collective league for one season.
So any team can play, even if there are few other teams in the immediate area.
PROMOTION

At the end of the season, the top two finishers, i.e. first and second in the table, can be promoted to the 5th ONLINELEAGUE. In principle, only teams from leagues that were founded on the 18th matchday of the season at the latest can be promoted. All others can only be promoted one season later.

PLAY-OFFS
If there are more teams than promotion spots, they must play one, or even two, qualifying matches against the first-place teams from the other leagues for promotion. These qualifying matches will take place in the break between the seasons.
SUCCESSORS
If there are still more places available in the 5th ONLINELEAGUE above than can be occupied by the two respective first-placed teams of the 6th leagues, more than the two first-placed teams will advance to the 5th ONLINELEAGUE. This can happen e.g. by deregistered or blocked teams or because there are too few registered teams in a circle. Info on this is in the respective overview of the promotions and play-offs.
Even in the first season, there may be more backlogs, because the 5th leagues are still empty and accordingly many promotions are needed to get the 5th leagues full. If there are e.g. only three 6th leagues in a district, it can be that in this first season 6 teams from each league are promoted to create a 5th ONLINELEAGUE with 18 teams.

DISTRICT LEAGUE – CITY LEAGUE
After promotion from the 6th ONLINELEAGUE, each team ends up in the 5th ONLINELEAGUE of their county or city. That means: Here all teams from one city play for the city championship. The region from which the teams in the 5th ONLINELEAGUE come, is therefore already a lot larger than in the 6th ONLINELEAGUE.
If there are not enough teams in a district for a league of its own, the following procedure is used:
In the first instance, teams from the 6th league of the district are pulled up into the 5th ONLINELEAGUE in order to be able to found a complete 5th ONLINELEAGUE in the district. If this is not enough, it will be tried to create a league with teams from neighbouring districts. If that also does not succeed, so it is looked in the entire country.
In the last consequence a so-called collective league is founded. Here then all teams play, which could not be accommodated so far in a 5th ONLINELEAGUE in their region. For the new season, the leagues will be newly formed, so that a team usually only has to make do with a collective league for one season.
So any team can play, even if there are few other teams in the immediate area.
PROMOTION
At the end of the season, the top ranked teams advance to the 4th ONLINELEAGUE of their country. Here it depends on the city ranking. The better a city is in the ranking within the country, the more promotion places and play-off places it gets. For example, city A may be ranked 1st in its country and receive 3 direct + 1 play-off place. City B ranks 14th within the country and only gets 2 play-off spots for promotion.
The exact number will be shown at the end of the season.

PLAY-OFFS

The Country League
Each country plays its country champions in the 4th leagues. Thereby the best teams from the cities of a country compete against each other in one or more 4th leagues. The number of 4th leagues within each country depends on the number of teams in the country.
FALL
At the end of the season, the top ranked teams are promoted to the 3rd ONLINELEAGUE. How many promotion spots and qualification spots there are for each league in the federal states is decided by the federal state ranking. The better a state is in the ranking, the more promotion places and qualification places it gets. The exact number will be displayed at the end of the season.
